Our efforts aim at improving the studies and the services of the administration. To understand more please read our Mission Statement and Charter
- We hold meetings every 2 weeks. You are welcome to join us. When? Look out for meeting announcements on the GPIA listserv.
- We participate in faculty meetings, addressing student interests and problems.
- We participate in concentration meetings, addressing student interests and problems.
- We keep you informed about faculty and concentration news as well as important upcoming decisions.
- We forge ties with student governments of other departments to get a stronger voice.
- We inform prospective students about our studies (if addressed).
Student Government Successes
The student government have had a number of successes. This section lists some of them.
Student Socials
Every couple weeks, Student Government organizes an informal student social at an establishment near school. If you have any suggestions, please contact Wil Carter, Social Outreach Coordinator. Click here for information on future gatherings, and to see pictures from recent outings!
Student Support Program
As a new program, the Student Support Program created by GPIA Student Government members is to help both new and current students integrate into the GPIA by offering a support service. This will help you settle in the first semester by helping students choose classes to providing assistance in issue related to the GPIA and the New School (i.e. housing or financial aid issues). Worksheets can be found here that can help you better understand blackboard, MyNewSchool.edu, and library/BobCat searches.
Printing Petition
In Fall 2007 a new set of printing charges were introduced university-wide. These charges caused hardship for a number of GPIA students and the student government petitioned the institution about the problem. Through dialog the university per willing to implement a more reasonable policy. You can read the documents we generated and our thought process here
